Fokker Dr.I (1)

Eigentlich bin ich persönlich kein grosser Fan des Fokker Dreideckers aber eine gewisse popularität ist dem ja nicht abzusprechen. So kommt es, dass ein Modell es auch in meinen Vorrat geschafft hat. Natürlich war es ein Geschenk ich habs mir nicht selbst gekauft.

Die neue Form der Revell Fokker Dr.I kann durchaus überzeugen. Die Passgenauigkeit ist gut und die Detailierung ist ausreichend gut. Wenn etwas negativ anzumerken ist, dann dass die Rippenstrukturen vielleicht etwas übertrieben geraten sind. Bei den Flügeln werde ich die Struktur in Kauf nehmen, aber beim Höhenleitwerk werde ich wohl doch zum Sandpapier greifen müssen.

Der Bau wird ohne grosse Detailierungsversuche mehr oder weniger aus der Box sein. Einzig der Kompass ist aus einem Roden Fokker D.VI Bausatz und die Sitzgurte sind Ätzteile von Eduard. Wenn der Bau einigermassen über die Bühne geht werde ich vielleicht die Kühlmäntel der MGs auch noch aus Ätzteilen bauen. Gleichzeitig zu den Arbeiten am Cockpit habe ich die Querruder und das Höhenruder rausgesägt und wieder in ausgelenkter Position angeklebt.

Eine entgültige Entscheidung welche Markierung die Maschien habe wird habe ich noch nicht getroffen. Vorerst werde ich mich daran wagen die Streifentarnung zu malen. Je nachdem wie das Resultat aussieht werde ich mich dann weiter entscheiden.

I'm not a big fan of the Fokker Triplane but the popularty of this type can not be denied. And mysteriously a Revell model got his way into my stash. I didn't bought it by myself it was a gift.

But the new tooling for the Fokker Dr.I is pretty good. The fit of the parts is perfect and there are enought details for a build oob. Not so good are the overdone surface structures for the wings and the elevator. For the wings I will live with this but I will remove the ribdetails from the tail.

The assampling goes straight forward without trying to add to much details. Only the compass comes from a Roden Fokker D.VI kit and the seatbelts are from Eduard. If everything goes fine with the build I will add some etched coolings for the MG's too. Beside the work on the cockpit I cut out the ailerons and the elevator and glued them back in a moved position.

There is not yet a final decission for the markings. First I will try to paint the streaky camo and depending on the result I will choose the markings.
