Albatros W.4 early (1)

Nach meiner Entäuschung mit der Fokker D.VI hege ich so meine Zweifel ob ich ein schon angefangenes Modell in Arbeit nehmen sollte. Meistens war es irgendwas, was mich gehindert hat genau dort weiterzubauen. Und wenn man sich nicht daran erinnert was es gewesen ist passiert dann so etwas.

In meiner Ungeduld habe ich dann Rodens Albatro W.4 early aus dem Regal geholt um einmal ganz von vorn zu beginnen. Den Fotoätzsatz von Part für die Albatros hatte ich auch noch da! Ich werde sicherlich nicht alle Teile der Platine brauchen aber so eine komplette innere Struktur aus Ätzteilen zu bauen ist schon verführerisch.

Die Detaildarstellung bei den Rodenbausätzen ist ja im allgemeinen ganz gut und an ein bisschen Teileputzen ist man ja gewöhnt und dieser Bausatz macht keine Ausnahme, ausser dass man hier viel Teileputzen muss. Angefangen habe ich mit dem Freilegen der grösseren Komponenten wie den Flügeln, den Rumpfteilen, Leitwerk und den Schwimmern.

Tips und Hinweise zum bauen bekomme ich von Marks Bau einer Roden Albatros D.I, wie auch Antonios Bau einer Albatros W.4.

After my mistake with the Fokker D.VI I’m not sure if it’s wise to continue with some of the already started models. Probably there was a reason why the building stopped and for the Fokker D.VI I was a little bit to overentusiastic to finish the model without checking the actual situation.

As a result I took out a new kit from the stash and started Rodens Albatros W.4 early kit from the beginning. Little help I get from a Part PE set for the Albatros D.II. Sure not all of the parts will be used for the W.4 version and there are a lot of details missing as a etched part and have to be scratched. But the very fine and fiddly internal frame is worth a try.

The Roden kits in general are very fine in detail even if there is always a little bit flash to clean. The W.4 kit is not different except for the huge amount of flash to clean up. The pictures on Rodens own website is the only one with nearly flashfree sprues. Neverless I started to clean up the wing parts, the the parts for the fuselage, the rudders and the floats. Looking at the pictures in the Windsock Mini Datafile I cannot see some structures on the upper side of the floats and scratched some locks on the upper side. Next step will be to figure out the right positions for the rigging attachments.
