Gutes Werkzeug – good tools

Mit der Zeit habe ich gelernt, dass gutes Werkzeug die Basis eines stressfreien Arbeitens ist. Auf alle Fälle sollte man immer scharfe Klingen unterschiedlicher Form haben, wie auch einen brauchbaren Feilensatz. Frisches Sandpapier ist auch nicht zu vergessen.

Genau so wichtig für mich ist auch immer den richtigen Leim zur Hand zu haben. Das heisst: Revell Contacta (mit Plastanteil), Humbrol dünnflüssig (ohne Plastanteil) sowie CA dünn- und dickflüssig.


Nicht zu vergessen sind ordentliche Pinsel und ausreichend Verdünnung für unterschiedlichen Gebrauch (ich nehme unterschiedliche Verdünner für meine Revell und Humbrol Farben!)

Aber! Auf eine Sache hatte ich bisher noch nicht viel Augenmerk gelegt: meine Bastelmusik (mit Kopfhörern!). Letzte Woche fing mein kleiner tragbarer CD-Spieler an zu hacken. Zuerst schob ich das Problem auch eine zerkratzte CD, aber auch nachdem ich das selbe Hacken bei anderen CDs auch hatte musste ich so langsam einsehen, dass der Spieler wohl seins getan hat. Da hatte ich dann auch gemerkt, wie notwendig funktionierende Musik für entspanntes Basteln ist. Nachdem ich es nicht mehr ertragen konnte und es mich fast wahnsinnig gemacht hat, dass schon nach 10 Minuten die CD sich nicht mehr eingekrigt hat, habe ich versucht ohne Musik zu basteln. Das ging deutlich nicht besser. Ich will in meiner eigenen Welt sein und nichts anderes störendes hören!

So habe ich den Gedanken über eine nicht notwendige Geldausgabe verworfen und mir einen neuen CD-Spieler gekauft. Gleichzeitig habe ich die Musikanlage auf das Niveau von gutem Werkzeug gehoben. Meine Hobbywelt ist jetzt wieder in Ordnung.

With the time I learned to appreciate good tool for stressfree working. It is important to have allway sharp blades for the X-acto in different shapes, as well as a good set of files. Fresh sanding paper not to forget.

Important too is to have the right glue for the right things: Revell Contacta (with an amount of plastic), Humbrol liquid (without some plastic) and superglue thin and thick.

Not to forget good brushes and enough thinner for different use (I use for exemple different thinners for my Revell and Humbrol Colors!)

But! I didn’t payed much attention to one thing: the music to my hobby (I usual listen to music with headphones while I’m building!) Last week my little portabel CD player started to loose track while playing. At first I blamed it to a bad CD but it happend with other CD’s too. Unfortunately I had to realise that the problem is the player and how necessarily good working music is for the hobby. I nearly got crazy with this interrupted music listening, but without music the situation wasn’t better. I completely want to be in my hobbyworld.

Finally I spent the money for a new CD player instead for a new kit and rised the music equipment to the level of good tool. Now my hobbyworld is ok again.
